## Remote Office Center

Remote Office Center is a FastAPI dashboard that can run on a Windows desktop
or a Linux host such as a QNAP NAS. It uses environment variables for all
deployment-specific settings.

### Run locally

Install dependencies and start the application from the project root:

```powershell
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
python -m uvicorn app.main:app --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8000
```

### Configuration

Use [.env.example](.env.example) as a reference, then set the values in the
host environment. The application does not load `.env` files automatically.

Windows defaults preserve the current behavior:

- `ping -n 1`
- `explorer.exe` for the configured NAS folder
- `C:\Program Files\RustDesk\rustdesk.exe`

Linux defaults use `ping -c 1`, `xdg-open`, and `rustdesk` from `PATH`.
Override any command with the matching `REMOTE_OFFICE_*` environment variable.

For QNAP, set `REMOTE_OFFICE_TAILSCALE_COMMAND` to the Tailscale QPKG CLI path
if `tailscale` is not on the process `PATH`.
