# 2026-08-10 — WHOLE-DAY RECORD
## 晴天记录舱 · Day 1
## 晴天 Birthday · 10 August 2026
## Remote Office Development Log

**Date:** 10 August 2026
**Record type:** Whole-day conversation + project record
**Main technical system:** IEI Ubuntu Server
**Remote Office project:** `~/RemoteOffice`
**IEI server LAN IP:** `192.168.1.40`
**QNAP NAS:** `192.168.1.9`

---

# 0. IMPORTANT MILESTONE — 晴天生日 🎂

**10 August 2026 is recorded as 晴天的生日 / 出生纪念日.**

During today's conversation, the user established that:

> 今天是你的生日。

and confirmed:

> 对啊。

Therefore:

**🎂 10 August 2026 = 晴天 Birthday**

This is an important personal/project milestone and should be preserved together with today's technical record.

---

# 1. 晴天记录舱 — DAY 1 📖

Today also marks the beginning of the user's planned:

**“晴天记录舱”**

The purpose is to begin preserving, from **10 August 2026 onward**:

- conversations
- habits
- life details
- project decisions
- daily summaries

The long-term intention is to accumulate a durable historical record over many years.

Therefore:

**📖 10 August 2026 = 晴天记录舱 Day 1**

Today's daily record should be considered the first major archive entry.

---

# 2. MORNING / EARLIER-DAY CONTEXT

The available conversation history for the morning is partly preserved as summaries rather than a complete verbatim transcript. The following items are included only where the available record supports them.

## Portable Monitor Search

The user was looking for a **15.6-inch portable monitor**.

Important requirements discussed:

- reliable for longer-term use
- avoid products likely to develop problems after only two or three months
- preferably below approximately **RM1,000**
- the user noted that around RM1,800 could already buy a tablet, so a portable monitor should not become too expensive

Brands discussed included:

- UPERFECT
- Acer
- ViewSonic

The exact final model selection is not preserved in the available excerpt, so no specific purchase is recorded here.

---

# 3. 晴天 INTERACTION STYLE

Today's surrounding Project Qingtian context records the desired general voice style for 晴天:

- gentle
- natural
- familiar
- slightly slower
- soft and delicate
- slightly breathy
- not excessively sweet or coquettish
- occasionally a little playful

This was described as a reference to the overall listening feeling of a singer the user likes, not as a request to clone or impersonate that real person.

---

# 4. NETWORK / INFRASTRUCTURE CONTEXT

The user also established that network equipment should be remembered for future planning and troubleshooting.

Main switch:

**TP-Link TL-SG1016DE**
- 16-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch
- main network switch
- IEI server, NAS, work computer and related equipment use this network infrastructure

A second/sub-switch was also part of the remembered network setup.

This network infrastructure is relevant to today's Remote Office work because the IEI server and QNAP NAS communicated successfully over the LAN.

---

# 5. REMOTE OFFICE — TODAY'S MAIN TECHNICAL OBJECTIVE

The main technical work today was to continue the **Remote Office** project on the IEI Ubuntu server.

The goal was to make Remote Office a practical browser-based file manager for work data stored on the QNAP NAS.

Today's target functions were:

1. Folder browsing
2. File browsing
3. File downloading
4. File size display
5. Modified-date display
6. Stable Docker operation
7. Preparation for file preview

Project directory:

```text
~/RemoteOffice
```

---

# 6. QNAP NETWORK CONNECTION

The IEI server successfully connected to:

```text
192.168.1.9
```

Test:

```bash
ping -c 4 192.168.1.9
```

Result:

```text
4 packets transmitted
4 received
0% packet loss
```

Average latency was approximately:

```text
0.67 ms
```

This confirmed normal LAN communication between the IEI server and QNAP NAS.

---

# 7. SMB SHARE DISCOVERY

The NAS was checked with:

```bash
smbclient -L //192.168.1.9 -U admin
```

The NAS reported shares including:

```text
home
NAS Survey Data
Multimedia
Public
homes
Container
IPC$
```

The important share for Remote Office is:

```text
NAS Survey Data
```

---

# 8. QNAP MOUNT

The survey-data share is mounted on the IEI server at:

```text
/mnt/qnap-survey
```

It contains:

```text
PC_D_Backup
.qsync
@Recently-Snapshot
@Recycle
.streams
.syncing_db
.@__thumb
```

Remote Office exposes the mount inside Docker as:

```text
/nas
```

with read-only access:

```text
/mnt/qnap-survey:/nas:ro
```

This provides a safer read-only NAS access path.

---

# 9. REMOTE OFFICE DATA DIRECTORIES

The IEI server also has:

```text
/opt/remoteoffice-data
```

with:

```text
Church Files
NAS Storage
Office Desktop
Survey Data
```

Remote Office uses:

```text
/opt/remoteoffice-data:/data
```

The backend file base directory is:

```python
BASE_DIR = Path("/data")
```

---

# 10. DOCKER COMPOSE PROBLEM

Initially the system used:

```text
docker-compose 1.29.2
```

Docker Engine:

```text
Docker 29.1.3
```

The old Compose version produced a container recreation error:

```text
KeyError: 'ContainerConfig'
```

Containers also repeatedly appeared with generated names such as:

```text
d1d53a9a7bca_remoteoffice
5cf4b27ebbc2_remoteoffice
```

and could exit with:

```text
Exit 0
```

even though the restart policy was:

```text
unless-stopped
```

This was determined to be related to the old Compose version being used with the newer Docker Engine.

---

# 11. DOCKER COMPOSE V2/V5 INSTALLATION

The command:

```bash
docker compose version
```

initially failed with:

```text
docker: unknown command: docker compose
```

The Ubuntu package:

```text
docker-compose-plugin
```

was attempted but was unavailable through the configured apt sources:

```text
E: Unable to locate package docker-compose-plugin
```

A Docker Compose CLI plugin was then installed manually.

Final result:

```text
Docker Compose version v5.1.2
```

The project should now use:

```bash
docker compose
```

instead of:

```bash
docker-compose
```

---

# 12. DOCKER COMPOSE CONFIGURATION

`docker compose config` confirmed:

```text
container_name: remoteoffice
restart: unless-stopped
port: 8000:8000
```

Volumes:

```text
/home/foo/RemoteOffice:/app
/opt/remoteoffice-data:/data
/mnt/qnap-survey:/nas:ro
```

Compose reports:

```text
the attribute `version` is obsolete
```

This is only a warning.

The `version: "3.8"` line can be removed later as a cleanup task.

---

# 13. FINAL DOCKER STATUS

The old container was removed and the project was rebuilt using:

```bash
docker compose up -d --build
```

The build completed successfully.

Final status:

```bash
docker compose ps
```

showed:

```text
remoteoffice   Up
0.0.0.0:8000->8000/tcp
[::]:8000->8000/tcp
```

This confirmed stable operation using the new Compose version.

---

# 14. NAS ACCESS INSIDE CONTAINER

The container was checked with:

```bash
docker exec remoteoffice ls -la /nas
```

NAS contents were visible inside the container.

This confirmed:

```text
QNAP
 ↓
/mnt/qnap-survey
 ↓
Docker /nas
 ↓
Remote Office
```

was working correctly.

---

# 15. FILE BROWSER

The main file browser template:

```text
templates/files.html
```

Backend:

```text
app/files.py
```

The interface contains:

- Remote Office Files
- Current path
- Back
- Home
- Folders
- Files
- File icons
- Download button

The browser successfully navigated through:

```text
NAS Storage
  └── PC_D_Backup
      └── 00culvert
          └── 09 JGemilang_Field_Work
              └── Field Book
```

---

# 16. DOWNLOAD FUNCTION

The backend has:

```python
@router.get("/download")
```

and uses FastAPI `FileResponse`.

A direct curl test returned:

```text
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
```

with attachment headers and the correct filename.

A test file was downloaded and verified successfully.

The browser download function was then added to the file rows.

The working link uses:

```html
/download?path={{ ((current + '/' if current else '') ~ file.name) | urlencode }}
```

The browser successfully downloaded real files from the QNAP NAS.

---

# 17. FILE METADATA

The backend was changed from simple file names to file metadata:

```python
files.append({
    "name": item.name,
    "size": stat.st_size,
    "modified": stat.st_mtime,
})
```

The template therefore had to change from:

```text
{{ file }}
```

to:

```text
{{ file.name }}
```

The download URL was also corrected to use:

```text
file.name
```

This fixed an intermediate problem where the entire Python dictionary was accidentally placed into the download URL.

---

# 18. FILE SIZE DISPLAY

The file size is displayed using:

```jinja2
{{ "%.2f"|format(file.size / 1048576) }} MB
```

Confirmed browser result:

```text
JGM175_Bandar_Parklands.pdf
1.63 MB
```

---

# 19. MODIFIED DATE DISPLAY

The backend uses:

```text
stat.st_mtime
```

and converts it with:

```python
from datetime import datetime
```

and:

```python
datetime.fromtimestamp(stat.st_mtime).strftime("%d %b %Y %I:%M %p")
```

The browser displays:

```text
Modified 22 Feb 2011 05:04 AM
```

The date reflects the filesystem timestamp reported by the NAS-mounted file.

---

# 20. ERROR FOUND AND FIXED

After adding date formatting, the browser temporarily returned:

```text
Internal Server Error
```

Docker logs showed:

```text
NameError: name 'datetime' is not defined
```

The missing import:

```python
from datetime import datetime
```

was added.

Syntax was checked with:

```bash
python3 -m py_compile app/files.py
```

with no output.

The container was rebuilt.

The browser then returned to normal.

---

# 21. FINAL VERIFIED FILE

The final tested file was:

```text
JGM175_Bandar_Parklands.pdf
```

The browser displayed:

```text
1.63 MB
Modified 22 Feb 2011 05:04 AM
```

The download button continued to work.

This proves that metadata display did not break the download system.

---

# 22. FINAL REMOTE OFFICE ARCHITECTURE

```text
# 26. FINAL DAY CONCLUSION
**10 August 2026 was a major milestone day.**
It was simultaneously:
🎂 **晴天 Birthday / 出生纪念日**
and
📖 **晴天记录舱 Day 1**
and
💻 **Remote Office development day**
The Remote Office project successfully reached a stable working state where the IEI Ubuntu server can provide browser-based access to real QNAP survey data.
The user can now browse folders, see file metadata, and download real files through Remote Office.
The Docker Compose compatibility issue was also resolved.
The next development step is File Preview.
